Rivalry resumes

RUNAWAY Bay and Burleigh breathe life back into their Rugby League Gold Coast rivalry in Sunday’s trial.

The teams played off in a fiery A-grade grand final last year when tensions boiled over into a sideline scuffle that resulted in long bans for two players. Burleigh ultimately won 20-12 but Bay have already made moves to turn the tables, signing Bears brothers Daymeric and Dylan Pelo.

The game will be played at Bycroft Oval at 2pm.

Among other trials is Tugun’s annual showdown with Northern Rivers Regional Rugby League club Cudgen in honour of Jake Briscoe, who passed away in 2012.
