TERROR BARRIER IN PLACE
ANTI-TERROR bollards that can stop a truck in its tracks have been installed in key Surfers Paradise areas.
The 16 retractable bollards have been installed under the ground along The Esplanade, just in time for the Commonwealth Games.
The beachfront road was reopened to traffic yesterday at 2pm, after it was closed for the past few months.
More than $1 million was spent on the project, which will have its first trial run during Festival 2018 activities in Surfers Paradise.
Council will control the bollards, which can be deployed in the case of an emergency, with supervision from Gold Coast police.
