THESE COUNCILLORS REFUSE TO COMMENT ON SALE OF BRUCE BISHOP CAR PARK
It has been four days since the Bulletin asked councillors if their position on the sale of Bruce Bishop car park had changed given the CCC investigation into alleged corruption. These seven have gone to ground. and in their submission they are saying that people, their guests, come to the property via using transport to the transit centre and or the light rail.
“From memory it’s some four years since that approval has been given. I don’t know whether it includes extension and the like.
“But yeah, it would be — but what I’m getting at is that their analogy of the way the guests comes over based on the backpackers scenario allowed them to put less car parking in that development.”
However, emails between council CEO Dale Dickson and Save Surfers Paradise (SSP) three months after the vote to sell Bruce Bishop show the project at Beach Rd had lapsed seven years earlier.
The council’s planning inquiries centre wrote back to SSP confirming “there is currently no development application lodged on 3 Beach Avenue”.
