Drop Fest’s late hurdle

-

FESTIVAL goers attending The Drop Fest on Saturday might be turned away at the gates unless Tweed Shire Council gives organisers the go-ahead for the event.

Council is holding an Extraordinary Meeting in Murwillumbah today to discuss a late Development Application submitted by organisers of the touring music festival, which coincides with the Quiksilver and Roxy Pro surfing contests at Snapper Rocks. Punters are currently able to purchase tickets at $95 each for the festival at Ebenezer Park, adjacent to Duranbah Beach at Tweed Heads, despite organisers not having approval to use the site.

While council staff have recommended granting an approval for the festival, organisers will need to meet several conditions, including providing appropriate parking and environmental protections.
