Funny that a lot of the Sovereign Islands people wanted a CST at the spit but no progress or jobs where they live. Typical rich NIMBY snobs. Kl

Bob Richly, you get your facts right. It was the Ian Chappell era that started the sledging, brother Greg carried it on asking the third brother Trevor, to bowl underarm against NZ. Think you have a selective memory, mate.

Thanks, Tony Abbott and the LNP. By making me join private health insurance so I don’t have to pay Medicare excess of 1.25 per cent I am now paying more than if I didn’t join. And the LNP let them raise fees again. Lucky for them they get great payouts on there shares in these companies. Jk

All indigenous protests at the Commonwealth Games better be peaceful otherwise police will intervene immediately. aunty Jack

You know society and good morals are at an all-time low when radio stations want you to phone in and say how long after your first date did you have sex. Obviously virginity in both sexes is now old hat. Doug

Re: immigration, l suggest that refugees with a maximum of two children should be accepted. Not those with five or six children.

I was watching the news this morning about NAPLAN test results does not change the school or kids for the past 10 years. It’s not worth the money spending millions of dollars for NAPLAN test. It’s better the government upgrade public schools

It amazes me that some car owners would spend more money on their phones and other technology etc. Would you get in a plane if it wasn't maintained? Don’t blame your car for breaking down, look after it. Your car is an asset, and needs to be safe to carry precious cargo.

Talk about an inquiry into fuel prices, try vet charges. unbelievable. Pete

My heart bleeds for the rich of Sovereign Islands, welcome to the peasants’ world. JJ

CFMEU putting flags and stickers in school classrooms. The Communists are coming. Conrad. Don

So new NRL chairman Peter Beattie doesn't even know which NRL club the Sharks represent. What a joke! He is also chairman of Commonwealth Games. They haven’t even started yet. Watch this space.

Maybe people who question global warming are correct and people like David Attenborough and NASA scientists have got it all wrong! Ha ha ha. Celt.

Money is the root of all evil. The best quote ever written. Lostboy. Jamie Roberts

After watching the Four Corners program about the Big Australia policy and population growth it’s time the government needs to start cutting immigration especially here on the GC. Tree hugger

You can’t have it both ways, Nick Belloff. If it wasn’t for the unions we’d all be working heaps of hours a week for a pittance. It’s slowly getting back to that as it is, so stop blaming the union for all the strife there is out there today.

Why don’t our federal politicians do the nation a favour and clean up their bullying acts in the comedy hour, sorry question time, and be good role models for our children not a pack of clowns.

They want us to share the ride to work but to go to the place to jump in and park the car it’s two hour parking and we’re in Brisbane for nine hours. on education. Isn’t this what Gillard and Rudd were doing seven years ago? Wasted billions of our money? Today we have foreigners working in just about every industry and profession because our education is hopeless.

CFMEU ... Why aren’t they pushing for mining jobs in North Queensland (Adani mine). Maybe that’s why their joining with the Maritime Union. So they can keep the M in CFMEU. Don

How great is our public transport - 749 late 15 min. So I lost my next connection and 741 Pac. Fair never turns up. Instead of waiting 1 hr, I had to wait 2 hrs. whole day ruined. So much for “Plan ahead” absolutely useless

Come on women’s surfing league, re cameras, wear appropriate surf wear, imagine men’s events doing bottom turns in your apparel, not pretty at all, zoom in on that, blinded forever

Could the striking council workers please do some research ask friends with trade what is like out there in the self employed world. No holiday pay loading no paid sick days. When the economy slows the pressure can sadly be to much for some. L.B.C. Parkwood

Has anyone noticed the parlous state of manhole (or personhole for those so inclined) and valve covers on roads throughout our city? Hardly any are level with the road, most are below the road surface and even some are above the surface. Surely we pay enough for our illustrious council to fix them and save damage to our car’s and improve travelling comfort. Johnno
