Barriers coming down

Advertising Feature I Thursday March 15, 2018 AUDIOLOGIST Suzanne Porter from A1 Discreet Hearing Aids says the barriers to hearing aid usage are reducing.

Mrs Porter said this was due to the public becoming more aware of how hearing aids worked.

“It’s also because of the introduction of automatic settings that eliminate the need for wearers to adjust the sound,” she said.

“During the past 10 years, I have seen that my clients are embracing hearing aid technology more. This is largely due to the substantial improvements in automatic technology, allowing wearers to be able to insert their devices and forget about them.”

Mrs Porter said the stigma of wearing a hearing aid was also reducing.

“I’m an advocate for trying on a dummy device if possible to ensure the customer is happy with the feel and fit of the device,” she said.

“We offer a 30-day money back guarantee on all fittings and free ongoing services and support for the life of the hearing aids.”

The business is located at Q Super Centre in Mermaid Waters, Hope Island Medical Centre and the Coolangatta Medical Centre. All clients get a free hearing assessment and consultation. Eligible pensioners and veterans can get subsided or free devices through the government system.

Clients with private cover can get rebates with extras cover.
