THE largest capacity superyacht to visit Australia is en route to the Gold Coast, part of a luxury flotilla expected next month for the city’s second big boat convention.

Oneworld worth $10 million has enough space for 120 on board for events and weddings — it will come to the Coast from Dubai via Newcastle and Sydney.

At least 20 large luxury vessels have booked in for the Commonwealth Games starting within three weeks and the second Superyacht Rendezvous a week after the sporting extravaganza ends.

Oneworld, at 31.5 metres and owned by ex-hotelier, developer and race car driver Rod Salmon, won’t make the Games but will be among the Rendezvous standouts.

Mr Salmon plans using the Rendezvous to launch

Oneworld’s availability as Australia’s newest “most exciting” charter vessel targeting the corporate and private events market.

Mr Salmon said it beat the capacity of any superyacht for charter in Australia and would offer a six-star luxury Mediterranean style service.

“We’re aiming to deliver Oneworld as the ultimate travelling private resort and on-water events venue.”

It will charter from $2800 per hour or $49,000 for opulent three-night escapes, including concierge service, tailored itineraries, event management capabilities and silver service dining.

“Oneworld has been a carefully planned project spanning several years involving extensive research of the Australian superyacht charter market to clearly understand what was needed along with visits to several international boat shows including Dubai, Florida and Monaco to ensure we purchased the pinnacle vessel for this market,” he said.

Gold Coast City Marina hosts the Rendezvous and CEO Trenton Gay said it was exciting to have Australia’s newest and largest capacity superyacht launch at the event.

“Oneworld is the first new internationally designed and manufactured superyacht to enter Australia for approximately 18 months so this is an exciting coup for the Australian Superyacht Rendezvous to have it premiere at our event,” Mr Gay said.
