Dixyville chance in wet

- TOM BOSWELL @TomBoswellGCB

GOLD Coast trainer Les Kelly says Dixyville will jump into the deep end in the QTIS Three-Year-Old Jewel (1200m) tomorrow but he believes a good draw and wet track could lead to an upset win by the filly.

The city’s most in-form riding and training partnership will reach for one of their biggest wins of the season yet

GOLD COAST tomorrow

Dwhen Kelly and hoop Ryan Plumb team up for the $125,000 race at Aquis Park.

Dixyville is four runs into her first preparation and has already scored two wins, her latest over 1200m on a heavy track on the Gold Coast on February 3.

It is a good omen for Dixyville who Kelly said had the class to jag a win over stronger rivals when she jumps from gate four on an expected heavy track.

“She is going along nicely,” Kelly said. “She is stepping out in to the deep end this time but you never know.

“She’s an improving filly and she handles the wet track and while she is no world beater, she is a trier.

“There are some of them a little bit better than others in the race but with a wet track she comes right in to contention.

“She has drawn well, will get back in the field and hopefully there is a lot of speed on so she can get home.”

Dixyville’s last run was six weeks ago and Kelly said it was an intentional tactic to take the filly in fresh as she looks for more distance.

“She has given every indication the whole way along that she will want more ground,” Kelly said.

“With the temptation for this race that is worth so much money we decided we would keep her fresh so we can put her over a little further later.”

Kelly labelled Chris Munce’s Johnny Whitesox as the one to beat.

The Gold Coast trainer said She’s a Youeffoh was unlikely to run tomorrow if the track was wet but backed Mystic Opal to produce a strong first run for his stable in the Listed Goldmarket (1200m).

Kelly suggested Aggravate could also produce another win for the stable in the Class 3 Plate.
