Khawaja to see spin doctor

-

USMAN Khawaja will be sent to India later this year for work on his technique against spin as Australia look to get their No.3 primed for a crunch Test tour against Pakistan.

Two Test failures in the subcontinent last year left a huge dint in Khawaja’s career as he was left out of four games in India and then axed in Bangladesh after just one start.

Australia was humiliated by Pakistan the last time they journeyed to the UAE in 2014 and this time they’re taking nothing for granted and are planning an Australia A tour of India to take place around August, to serve as a direct leadup to the Test series in September-October.

Khawaja insists he’s not concerned about his overseas average of 26.7, a record which was boosted by a tenacious 75 against South Africa in the last Test.

“I’m not trying to prove anything,” Khawaja said.

“I focus on trying to win a Test match and don’t worry about the other stuff because nothing feels better than winning a Test match with the boys.”
