History against Roosters
SYDNEY Roosters fans might as well rip up their grand final tickets should their star-studded side crash to a second shock defeat tonight and suddenly be faced with overcoming a 38-year finals hoodoo.
The last Roosters team to overcome an 0-2 start to the season and still reach September was the Bob Fulton-coached and Royce Ayliffe-led side way back in 1980. Bondi locals are known to be fickle – but history suggests so is their footy side, especially if things do not go to script early.
It would be foolish to think a team with the likes of Cooper Cronk, James Tedesco, Boyd Cordner and Latrell Mitchell will not push deep into the finals, regardless of tonight’s result against Canterbury.
