Bears keep roll going

-

BURLEIGH have retained a share of the Intrust Super Cup lead after knocking off another heavyweight club.

The Bears rolled Redcliffe 25-12 at Pizzey Park on Saturday in another indication that a big season is in store for the 2016 premiers.

In Matt White’s suspension-enforced absence, former Queensland and Australia prop Ben Hannant was promoted into the ISC side at the last minute.

Hannant had been training with the Bears for weeks but only officially signed to play shortly before the Dolphins clash. His return to footy did not last long though, forced from the field with a hamstring injury after just six minutes.

Not even his injury could dent the Bears, who put the result beyond doubt when Pat Politoni slotted a 74th minute field goal.

They will look to continue their perfect start to the season when they head to Piggabeen Sports Complex this Saturday for a Round 3 showdown against Tweed Heads.
