Kim’s nuke assurance

SOUTH Korea’s Foreign Minister says North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un has “given his word” he’s committed to denuclearisation.

US President Donald Trump has agreed to what would be historic talks after South Korean officials relayed that Kim was committed to ridding the Korean Peninsula of nuclear weapons and was willing to halt nuclear and missile tests.

North Korea has not publicly confirmed the summit plans.

South Korea’s Kang Kyung-wha said Seoul had asked the North “to indicate in clear terms the commitment to denuclearisation” and said Kim had “given his word”.

Mr Trump has told South Korean President Moon Jae-in the meeting will come by the end of May.
