GETTING BACK TO NATURE

MT BARNEY Lodge is the perfect destination for adventure-seeking kids.

Learn everything from how to construct shelter out of tarp and rope to how to light a fire without matches in Mt Barney’s Bushcraft and Survival Introductory Camp.

The three-day camp is only 90 minutes from the Gold Coast.

Kids will also learn how to search for bushtucker and water and basic firstaid responses.

Outdoor leaders will share their knowledge and teach kids many survival skills including what to do if they lose their compass and how to attract attention with minimal equipment.

The first day of camp will see participants jump straight into the survival mindset and the “Big Five”: water, warmth, signal, shelter and fire.

After learning to light their own fires, kids will cook their own dinner of damper, sweet potatoes and kangaroo fillet and then camp out under the blanket of stars covering the Mt Barney sky.

The following days will be spent hiking through incredible bushland, sampling the native bushtucker foods found on the property and practising the survival skills in different scenarios and terrains.
