Sharks maul Aspley in trial

SOUTHPORT will enter their March 30 NEAFL opener on the back of a confidence-boosting 15-point trial win over Aspley on Saturday.

The Sharks stepped up preparations for their Round 1 clash away to Canberra with a 12.8 (80) to 10.5 (65) victory at Carseldine.

Wade Hancock and Mitch Johnson combined for eight goals as the visitors overcame a sluggish start.

It was the final pre-season trial for the Sharks, who finished second-last in the 2017 NEAFL.
