BATON CLOSES IN AS CELEBRATIONS BEGIN
AS anticipation builds for the arrival of the Queen’s Baton into the Gold Coast on Sunday, April 1, a number of community celebrations are being planned to mark the historic occasion.
City of Gold Coast CEO Dale Dickson said each celebration would be different and reflect the local communities hosting them.
“This is a great chance for our residents to experience an exciting and unique part of the Games in their own backyard,” Mr Dickson said.
“We would love for everyone to line their local streets and cheer on the batonbearers who will be famous athletes, Gold Coast icons and, importantly, many of our local unsung heroes.”
