When driving towards the new sculpture on TE Peters from Broadbeach towards the roundabout, the sculpture is totally lost because of the walkway behind it. If it had been placed so that it was stand alone, it would be magnificent. Totally wasted where it is!

If you are unlucky enough to live within 500m of a large garbage bin (the type that a truck lifts up), guest what, because of the games for security reasons, the collection times now start at 2.30 in the morning. I was woken at 5.20 by the thunderous crashing garbage and sounds of the truck as well. How are people meant to sleep and it is impossible for us to leave our windows open because of the noise. Good one council, I thought it is no noise before 7am. Disgusted.

When are all the flagpoles going up on the highway outside airport and on the M1. A flag of every country competing would be a friendly welcome. The Fossil.

Ken Johnston I may not have always agreed with some of your posts or letters. However, your letter in Your Views (GCB 19/3) was spot on. Julian Wilson is a Mr Nice Guy as are seemingly most pro surfers male and female, they just come across as the ultimate professionals. They are after all living the dream. They rarely compete on a level playing field. Most are happy to keep under the radar and do their thing. Surfing is a culture that brings all walks of life together. So why do those other so called “sportsman” you mention get the publicity, the million plus a year payments? I clearly can’t understand.

When the Games are over and the village gets sold off, where does the money from the sale go? Ratepayers will be getting slugged to pay for these Games for years. So we need to know that the sale pays off the debt. You can put money on it, that it won’t. – Spot
