Quite the comeback

ON the back of this week’s announcement that all Games athletes and volunteers would receive free entry to Village Roadshow theme parks during GC2018, it didn’t take long for online cynics to emerge.

One Facebook user asked: “Who’s really paying for this? Nothing is free.”

When some respondents suggested taxpayers would be footing the bill, Clark Kirby posted: “This is completely funded by Village Roadshow, not the State Government.”

But Anne Wieland was having none of that.

“Clark Kirby, you are hilarious,” she posted before adding: “Where did you get that idea?” Cue Clark Kirby’s contender for comeback of the year.

“Hi there, Anne,” he replied. “I am actually the CEO of Village Roadshow Theme Parks and I can confirm we will be absorbing the full cost of this initiative.”
