Bravery award for fire rescue

A BIGGERA WATERS police officer has been awarded an Australian Bravery Medal after rescuing a woman from a burning house in Brisbane.

In April 2013, Senior Constable Joseph Kelly and his colleague forced entry and rescued the woman trapped inside. When reports came in there may have been children inside, Snr Const Kelly went back in to search.

Fortunately, there was no one else inside, Snr Const Kelly was given the medal this month at a ceremony at Brisbane’s Government House.
