Electrical fault of fire
FIREFIGHTERS say electrical infrastructure on a small bush road is likely to have sparked the devastating Tathra bushfire.
The Rural Fire Service said in a statement yesterday that an issue with electrical infrastructure on Reedy Swamp Rd, to the east of Bega, was the likely cause of the fire.
The blaze destroyed almost 100 homes, caravans and cabins on Sunday and sparked a bitter debate between the state’s two firefighting agencies.
The information, in a preliminary investigation, will be provided to the NSW Police, the RFS said.
