Race on for last tickets

GOLD Coast Commonwealth Games bosses are “delighted” with ticket sales, despite 200,000 seats still unsold just nine days out from the event.

Tickets for most events including the blue-riband opening ceremony are still available on the GC2018 website.

Resale tickets for so-called sold-out events such as swimming, beach volleyball and rugby sevens are also up for grabs on the GC2018’s ‘fan marketplace’ as well as sites such as Gumtree.

Organisers concede there will be empty seats at some events and are pressuring sponsors and international sports federations to take up their ticket allocations to avoid international TV coverage embarrassment.
