WOMAN CRITICAL AFTER HINTERLAND CAR CRASH

A WOMAN was flown to hospital in a critical condition after receiving significan­t leg injuries in a hinterland car crash yesterday afternoon.

Beaudesert Beenleigh Road was closed about 12.45pm after a van collided with a hatchback. A truck then slammed into the hatchback.

The 55-year-old woman driver of the hatchback was trapped in her car for at least half an hour before firefighte­rs managed to free her. She was transporte­d to Gold Coast University Hospital.

A 19-year-old man, who was driving the van, received ankle injuries and abdominal bruising and was taken to Logan Hospital in a stable condition.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigat­ing.

The driver of the truck was not injured.
