Theft of ATM goes wrong

MELBOURNE: Burglars have tried to steal an ATM from a shopping centre in Melbourne’s southeast.

Offenders forced entry to the Langwarrin centre early yesterday and used a chain to secure an ATM inside and tried unsuccessfully to drag it outside, police said.

The would-be thieves escaped, leaving tyre marks outside the doors, and police were called when staff from the centre’s bakery discovered the damage.
