Maltesers lose shape

THEY are the perfect size and weight for fun party games such as straw soccer. But Maltesers might be about to lose their distinctive round shape.

Following falling sales, maker Mars is set to change them from chocolate spheres to buttons.

It is not clear if the buttons will be a one-off, or a permanent change, but details of the new shape were leaked during preparations and auditions for an online advert.

When asked if Maltesers will be flattened, a Mars spokesman would say only: “That’s not a bad idea.”
