LIFE IN THE GAMES LANES

THE transportation of athletes and officials to and from venues, airports and accommodation via the Games Route Network (GRN) is now underway.

The GRN will also be used by shuttle buses transporting spectators and workforce to venues, public transport services and general traffic.

A significant change for general traffic will take place from this Friday with the integration of dedicated Games Lanes.

These are exclusive traffic lanes for accredited vehicles including Games Shuttles, TransLink buses, police and emergency vehicles.

Access to Games Lanes will be tightly controlled and fines will apply if unaccredited vehicles use them. Games Lanes:

• Smith St

• Gold Coast Highway (between Southport and Broadbeach)

• Nerang-Broadbeach Rd (between Broadbeach and Carrara)

• Ross St, Currumburra Road, Olsen Ave (between Carrara and Parkwood)

One of the key road closures will be on NerangBroadbeach Rd between Chisholm Rd and Ross St in Carrara. Eastbound lanes on Nerang-Broadbeach Rd are currently closed and both directions will be closed from tomorrow.
