‘Pop’ can’t stop Benji

-

BENJI Marshall said he feared the worst when he heard a “pop”in his ankle after he trod in a giant divot at Campbelltown Stadium.

Marshall has been named in the Wests Tigers No.6 jersey for Monday’s clash against Parramatta, but will get a better idea if he will play as early as tomorrow when he tries to run for the first time.

The Tigers veteran hobbled around in back play late in the second half during Friday’s controversial golden-point loss against Brisbane, and scans later confirmed he had ruptured the lateral ligament in his left ankle.

Marshall said he put his foot in a divot at the suburban ground and fell to the ground with not a rival in sight.

“There was a just divot mark in the corner,’’ he said.
