Wet, windy but eggcellent for surfers

-

EASTER is going to be wet and windy – but the surf will be pumping.

Up to 50mm of rain could fall across the Gold Coast in showers across the long weekend thanks to continued south easterly winds, says Bureau of Meteorology forecaster James Thompson. “If we get a decent shower, it will be up to 10mm,” he said.

“Some places will get up to 50mm.”

With strong wind warnings in place, there will be “large and powerful” swell just in time for Good Friday.

“It’s pretty good for Easter surfers,” Mr Thompson said.

The strong winds, expected to lash the coast up to 25km/h, will cease by late Friday.

Temperatures are predicted to remain stable around 29C, slightly above the March average of around 28C.
