Tweed yet to approve water team
THE team to conduct an environmental review into the expansion of the Tweed Shire’s main water source is yet to be chosen.
Tweed Shire mayor Katie Milne last week announced she wants to explore sustainable water options before council fully commits to its 2015 decision to spend $70 million on doubling the capacity of the Clarrie Hall Dam.
The region is in a race against time to fix a water crisis brought on by booming population and the threat of global warming.
Veteran councillor Warren Polglase yesterday told the Bulletin the review team was yet to be assembled.
“I just think it’s a waste of time and money,” he said.
“Now the review has been decided the committee should have been up and running but it hasn’t happened,” he said.
