Pollies lambasting cricketers is hypocrisy in the extreme

-

SO, what can we say about our sport of cricket, the culture of cricket, the win at all costs of our cricket, the long-term arrogance of our cricketers?

Okay, we don’t like what has gone on in the last week or so , but what have they really done to us?

They have embarrassed us and on the world stage have made us look like cheats, so what? Have they stolen from us? Have they really lied to us? What have they done to us except to shame us and embarrass us?

Here on the other hand we have our politicians – they sit there in judgment and have come out and said things about our cricketers like integrity, honesty and so on, but look at our politicians.

They have lied to us, cheated us, deceived us, misled us, stolen our money, misused our money, used their positions for personal gain. We ask them for a simple yes or no answer and they blatantly refuse to give us a straight one, we catch them out dead to rights and it’s like water off a ducks back, hardly any suspensions for a year or sackings from parliament for cheating and thieving from the voter or unlawfully using the tax payers dollars – they just wait it out until it all blows over and hope we forget about it.

There’s a litany and an inherent culture in our politicians’ DNA , and don’t let us even mention arrogance, and they have the hide to lambast our cricketers. What sort of hypocritical miscreants are they? Hypocrisy – what a wonderful word to describe our politicians and even our media, but I doubt they have it in their vocabulary or even know what it really means, or for that matter do they even care?

In summary, our politicians and media have a huge influence on our way of life, but apart from some joy and light entertainment what influence do our cricketers have on our way of life? In my humble opinion absolutely nothing.
