Bail stays for Scout leader

-

A FORMER NSW Scout leader accused of sexually abusing nine boys over a 23-year period will remain under virtual house arrest after a judge refused to remand him in custody.

Mario Henry Aliverti, 58, who has been on bail for 20 months, has been charged with more offences since his 2016 arrest on 11 charges, with him now facing a total of 81 counts.

In the NSW Supreme Court yesterday, Justice David Davies refused a Crown application for his detention, concluding that the current strict bail conditions meet any concerns about lack of safety to the public.
