JONNY DELIVERS A VERY SPECIAL SHOW
RESIDENTS of the Carinity Cedarbrook aged care community at Mudgeeraba were treated to a special private concert by award-winning country musician Jonny Taylor.
His special acoustic performance featured songs from his acclaimed new album Dig Deep and covers of popular tunes by the likes of Kenny Rogers and Johnny Cash.
Jonny also chatted to the audience about life in his tiny rural home town Dumbleyung — population 200 — and performing at the Tamworth Country Music Festival and touring with Australian country music icon James Blundell.
The Australia’s Got Talent and Toyota Star Maker finalist followed his performance at Cedarbrook with a show at the nearby Wallaby Hotel at Mudgeeraba, the final date of his Queensland tour.
One of Australia’s busiest and hardest working singersongwriters, Jonny averages 180 shows across the country annually.
Cedarbrook Residential Manager Kathy Nicholls said the residents were excited for the special private performance.
“They were grateful that Jonny had travelled so far to perform for them and have photos taken with him,” she said.
“At Cedarbrook we often have musicians perform for the residents but we’ve never had a singer from as far away as Western Australia visit us.”
With a country feel and state-of-the-art hotel-style amenities, Cedarbrook is the Gold Coast’s newest aged care community — and the first in Australia to incorporate a working horse and cattle farm.
Cedarbrook is run by Carinity, an outreach of Queensland Baptists which operates aged-care and retirement communities, youth homeless shelters, chaplaincy services and alternative education schools.
