No sanction but coach chat awaits
A FURIOUS Wayne Bennett will hold a showdown with Nathan Brown after the Newcastle mentor ignited the NRL’s latest feud by launching an extraordinary verbal attack on the Broncos coach.
The NRL yesterday confirmed Brown would not face any sanction for bringing the game into disrepute after he used a press conference to criticise a rival coach.
It’s understood Bennett will personally contact Brown to thrash out the motivation behind his outburst following the Knights’ 15-10 defeat of Brisbane on Saturday.
Bennett declined to comment publicly yesterday but it is believed he believes he has been backstabbed by Brown after the Broncos coach helped his Knights counterpart in pre-season.
Now the pair are at loggerheads, with Brown hitting back at Bennett after the Broncos coach said on Friday that the Newcastle coach had “unbuilt” the Knights.
Brown accused Bennett of putting his personal life before the pursuit of premierships during his ill-fated three seasons at the helm of Newcastle from 2012 to 2014.
