TURNBULL’S PROPOSAL:

-

1. Varsity Lakes to Tugun:

The last remaining section of the M1 will be widened from four to six lanes across both the north and southbound lanes. Includes new direct north-bound off-ramp from the M1 to Southport-Burleigh Road, along with extra lanes and revamps of cycling and walking infrastructure.

2. Eight Mile Plains to Daisy Hill:

The Prime Minister wants to extend work already in the pipeline to widen the M1 from the Gateway Motorway merge past the Rochedale Road off-ramp. He will today propose for the M1 to be upgraded from four lanes to six between Eight Mile Plains and Daisy Hill. The busway will also be extended from Brisbane to Springwood.

Already on the table:

Pacific Motorway-Gateway merge: State and federal governments agreed in March 2017 to spend $115 million widening the M1 to five lanes from the Gateway Motorway merge past the Rochedale Road off-ramp. Mudgeeraba-Varsity Lakes: The M1 will be widened from four to six lanes as part of the agreement in March 2017. Work will begin soon after the Commonwealth Games.
