Carousel up and running

- AMBER MACPHERSON

THE Broadbeach Carousel is up and running again after months in repairs.

The iconic 100-year-old attraction reopened on March 26, upholding the pledge of being ready in time for the Commonwealth Games and school holidays.

The carousel is a fundraiser for the local Rotary club and is open from 9am to 9pm most days until the end of this month.

The decision to keep the carousel at Broadbeach or relocate it to another area will be considered after the Games.

The amusement was originally brought to Surfers Paradise in 1981 by businessman Reg Grundy.

It was moved to Broadbeach following the Closure of Grundy’s Entertainment Centre by the end of the 1980s.
