Smaller scale E swell continues to range from 2 to 3ft across the region today under early light winds tending moderate ESE during the day. Tomorrow sees a combined building trend in SE windswell and underlying SE groundswel­l underway, building towards solid 3 to 4ft levels during the afternoon. Combined E and SE swells show peak size on Thursday at anywhere from 3 to 6ft depending on location under predominan­tly moderate ESE winds.

TODAY

Fading E tradewind swell. Slower sets to 2 to 3ft exposed breaks, mixing with underlying S swell at lower levels across northern NSW beaches. Wrapping at low levels inside the points and bays with size depending on exposure. WIND: Early light SW to SSW inshore tending ESE 10 to 15 knots.

TOMORROW

Renewed rise in short range SE tradewind swell. Ranging from 2 to 3ft+ along exposed breaks early, building towards 3 to 4ft during the afternoon. Wrapping in at lower levels inside the points and bays. WIND: Early light WSW to SSW inshore, tending SE 15 to 25 knots.

THURSDAY

Combinatio­n of mid-period ESE tradewind swell and stronger SE groundswel­l. Solid sets to 3 to 5ft exposed QLD breaks, grading to a larger 4 to 6ft+ across northern NSW south facing breaks. Wrapping at 2 to 4ft+ inside the points and bays with size depending on exposure. WIND: Early lighter S inshore, tending ESE 10 to 15 knots.

FRIDAY

Combined easing trend in E tradewind swell and SE groundswel­l. Ranging from 3 to 4ft along exposed breaks. Wrapping at 2 to 3ft along the points and inside the bays. WIND: Early light winds inshore, tending E to NE 10 to 15 knots.

SATURDAY

Mix of smaller-scale E swell and background SE groundswel­l. Sets ranging from 1 to 3ft exposed breaks. Wrapping at 1 to 2ft inside the points and bays. WIND: NW to NNW 10 to 20 knots.
