THE Tall Ferns have held off a spirited Mozambique fourthquarter resistance to take out their Commonwealth Games quarter-final 79-63.
New Zealand racked up a 19-point lead by the end of three-quarter time to sit 60-41 ahead, only to take their foot off the accelerator.
Mozambique roared back to come within eight points of New Zealand, but eventually relented to perpetuate their opponents’ unbeaten run.
Having beaten Malaysia, Jamaica, India and Mozambique in pool play, the Ferns face the daunting task of beating hosts Australia in their semi-final on Friday.
For New Zealand, Natalie Taylor dominated with 25 points and eight rebounds.
