HOW JAMAICA BEAR DANCE? JET IN A BOLT

- LAUREN WOOD

RETIRED Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt says he is looking forward to spending time on the Gold Coast’s famous beaches after jetting into the city yesterday.

Bolt, who was snapped dancing with Games mascot Borobi after his arrival, is also expected to party at the city’s nightclubs during his first visit to the Gold Coast.

“I’ve heard about it and people have told me it’s a nice place and the beaches are here so we’ll see if I get to go to the beaches,” the world record holder for the 100m and 200m said.

HE won’t set foot on the sprinting track but the world’s fastest man will still light up the Gold Coast.

Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt flew in to Queensland yesterday, and while his first hours were spent sleeping at his hotel, the party-boy superstar was expected to hit the Coast’s nightclubs during his highly-anticipated visit.

Bolt has a number of corporate commitments over the next few days and he’s also expected to present medals at the athletics.

“This is the first time I’ll be at a championship and not be competing,” Bolt said when he arrived in Brisbane.

“I’m excited just to watch and to cheer on and to get a chance just to see it from a different angle.”

Bolt – who retired from athletics last year and holds the world record for the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay – said he had high hopes for the Jamaican track and field outfit for what remains of the Commonwealth Games.

“I always expect the Jamaicans to come out and do their best,” he said.

“We are a big track nation so I always expect the best from them at all times.”

It is the 31-year-old’s visit to the Glitter Strip.

“It’s my first time and I’m excited about it,” he said.

“I’ve heard about it and people have told me it’s a nice place and the beaches are here so we’ll see if I get to go to the beaches.” first
