Info centre on the up
THE revamped Visitor Information Centre at Surfers Paradise is a hub of information for visitors and has sold almost $30,000 worth of tickets and tours so far this April, up 79 per cent on last year.
The Cavill Mall centre, managed by Destination Gold Coast, was upgraded last year by the City of Gold Coast, embracing new hi-tech touchscreen directories and displays.
“Our Surfers Paradise VIC welcomed 140,000 visitor inquiries in 2016-17, culminating in $1.1 million in tourism product sales for the city,” Destination Gold Coast CEO Martin Winter said.
The temporary visitor centre at the Games Village has also sold more than $6000 worth of tickets and tours to athletes.
