THE revamped Visitor Informatio­n Centre at Surfers Paradise is a hub of informatio­n for visitors and has sold almost $30,000 worth of tickets and tours so far this April, up 79 per cent on last year.

The Cavill Mall centre, managed by Destinatio­n Gold Coast, was upgraded last year by the City of Gold Coast, embracing new hi-tech touchscree­n directorie­s and displays.

“Our Surfers Paradise VIC welcomed 140,000 visitor inquiries in 2016-17, culminatin­g in $1.1 million in tourism product sales for the city,” Destinatio­n Gold Coast CEO Martin Winter said.

The temporary visitor centre at the Games Village has also sold more than $6000 worth of tickets and tours to athletes.
