I have found it very disappointing to hear so much negativity from locals, what about all the volunteers and talented people who have put their time and effort into this great event. brenjon

1 Billion Dollar Band Aid for the M1 ... And when it's all finished will still be 20 years out of date. Don

It has only taken one day to expose Karen Andrews announcement of an M1 upgrade as a cheap publicity stunt. So sad that the Prime Minister and Ms Andrews are using the Comm games for their own self publicity. Grey

I've been concerned for a while about where this country is going, so many issues, so many problems. But I've just been listening to an interview with Bill Shorten and OMG, he has a fix for every problem we have and I mean, every problem. Where has this man been. GT

Considering that Australia retired its CDMA network in 2008 and the GSM network in 2015, the marketing people who cooked up the TV advert with the 15 year old phone are really showing their ignorance, let alone misleading consumers.

That's the true Aussie sporting spirit we can show the world. Those three girl 10,000 metre race finishers waiting for the last girl to cross the line were magnificent. Roy, Burleigh Waters

A lot of those sheep on the video were not Aust. sheep. We don't export Black faced long tail sheep or pregnant ewes. They were probably from East Africa or Southern Europe !!

SHAME SHAME SHAME all you GC2018 naysayers. These are the friendly games, not the negative games. It's only 11 days. Get out there and support all those wonderful athletes. You might even have fun. I bet the people of Syria would gladly change places with you.

Took my 2 sons to the CG Boxing last night at Oxenford. Was greeted by very enthusiastic & cheerful volunteers. Venue was great, food & drinks quite reasonable. The boxing program was very slick & professional. Exiting the venue was a breeze. Well done to all involved. Alan the Bolt Man

Big Shout to the GC2018 volunteers at Helensvale Station and at the Hockey Centre, they were friendly and extremely helpful while assisting my hubby on crutches!

People may have lost out at first instance to a bit of a scare campaign on traffic etc due to

these games but the long term outlook is great, lots of new roadwork done, landscaped areas, new sports complexes, these things can only attract more ppl in the long run.

Re bike share issue, I have a simple fix, charge Mobike and TAG the same fine the council wants to charge us the ratepayer for leaving their garbage bin too long on the footpath after emptying, I'm sure they will be collected then! Hot Rod

How cum buskers who provide free entertainment 2 surfers have 2 b registered or get fined and beggars mostly drunk or drugged get away with it I know who I would prefer xxx

My friend visiting from Europe just told me that in Germany the windows of the trams r not allowed to b covered by adverts because police cannot see what is happening on the tram. Make sense!

Beat this. Local Doctor's surgery closed for two weeks, due to Games! There are NO events in the vicinity! Zam

To all of the Commonwealth Games athletes the winners and the losers and the volunteers Ron Clarke AO MBE would have been very proud of you all. Good onya! Andrew Richards

Israel Folau should stand his ground. Whether or not you agree with his views, it is important he makes a stand against those who want to take away our freedom of speech and opinion. No one should be bullied into silence. Graz

Why is the swimming on so late? I thought that swimmers get up at crack of sparrow fart?

Alex Perry looking pretty fit, on Hughesy tonight. Was a chubby chubs, way back when.

When are the precious vehicle drivers on the Gold Coast going to realise that you have to stop for pedestrians on a pedestrian crossing. It is only a matter of time before someone is killed at the pedestrian crossing on Marine Pde at Biggera Waters. Please slow down before it is too late.

Are you surprised? Beattie and Labor couldn't get it right when he was the Premier and left a mess to clean up which we are still trying to do. Now here is another financial mess to add on. Beattie and Labor again. When will we learn? Mary, Elanora.

Currumbin Comm. Games time trial cycle race. Barricades up and Traffic Control tried to stop me going to work at 0230 when the gazetted closure was from 0300. Strike one. Large section of Currumbin Ck. Road still closed four hours after the race finished for no reason. Strike two. Succeeded in alienating the few residents who still supported these events. Christo.
