SUMMARY

Combined E and SE swells show peak size today at anywhere from 3 to 6ft depending on location under predominan­tly moderate ESE winds. A steady easing trend in E and SE swells follows throughout Friday and the weekend.

TODAY

Combinatio­n of easing E tradewind swell and stronger SE groundswel­l. Solid sets to 3 to 4ft+ exposed QLD breaks, grading to a larger 4 to 6ft+ across northern NSW south facing breaks. Wrapping in at 2 to 5ft inside the points and bays with size depending on exposure. WIND: Early light and variable NW to NE inshore, tending NNE 10 to 15 knots.

TOMORROW

Combined easing trend in E tradewind swell and SE groundswel­l. Solid 3 to 4ft along exposed breaks. Wrapping at 2 to 3ft along the points and inside the bays, dropping into the afternoon. WIND: Early light WNW to NW tending N 10 to 20 knots.

SATURDAY

Mix of smaller-scale E swell and

background SE groundswel­l. Sets ranging from 1 to 3ft exposed northern NSW breaks. Wrapping at 1 to 2ft across southern Queensland coasts and smaller inside the points and bays.

WIND: Early NW to NNW 10 to 20 knots tending N 15 to 20 knots during the afternoon.

SUNDAY

Residual SE swell mixing with slight ENE windswell. Around 1ft+ exposed breaks, virtually flat elsewhere.

WIND: Early light NW to WNW inshore tending light and variable, then NNE around 10 knots.

MONDAY

Speculativ­e potential for directiona­l S swell ranging from an inconsiste­nt 1 to 3ft across northern NSW south facing breaks. ENE swell 0.5 to 1ft across southern Queensland’s exposed beaches, otherwise virtually flat.

WIND: Early light WSW to SSW inshore, tending SE to NE 5 to 10 knots.
