Getting a kick out of futsal

GOLD Coast Futsal have been crowned champions at Football Queensland’s (FQ) annual State Titles after the region secured two age group championships and finished atop the overall points tally.

Gold Coast sealed their championship victory ahead of Sunshine Coast Futsal, who also won two age group titles, following two days of action on Brisbane’s northside and the Sunshine Coast on March 31 and April 1.

Appearing in five grand finals, Gold Coast prevailed in the under-13 boys and under-15 girls divisions but fell in the deciders of the under-11/12 boys, under-14/15 boys and under-16 boys competitions. Gold Coast players Nash Walker (under-11/12 boys MVP), Gabriell Murray (under-14/15 boys MVP), Sara Roussakis (under-15 girls MVP), Elyse Jonic (under-15 girls Beat and Fairest) and Ben Bordin (under-16 boys Best and Fairest) also finished with individual awards.
