Pressure for premiers

HIS troops are the reigning Gold Coast Premier League champions, but Broadbeach United coach Lee Vernon says the pressure lies with the Gold Coast Knights in 2018.

Ahead of the FFA Cup regional final between the sides at Carrara at 4pm on Saturday, Vernon said the Knights were the team to beat after narrowly missing last season’s premiership-championship double.

“They won the league last year and only just missed out on the grand final and they’ve improved the squad again so I think they’re going to be a pretty tough team to knock over,” Vernon said.

“Everyone expects them to be well and truly geared up for going into the state league (NPL) next year.”
