I am watching GC com games closing ceremony on Tv and thanking God I did not pay to see it live as it is so pathetic I am embarrassed to be a local!

What a disgraceful closing ceremony. Where were the athletes and, in particular, Kurt Fearnley carrying in the flag? He deserved to be in the limelight as did all the athletes; winners or losers. Up until the closing ceremony the games had been brilliant.

To all the homophobes and religious bigots just a reminder Australia has had gay marriage for 6 months now and the world has not ended

Heart warming after Com Games marathon when 2 motor cycle police spent a long time with families at Esplanade Burleigh lifting little kids to sit on their bikes ... allowing them to turn on sirens ... lots of photos with Mums Dads etc Well done BM

Before Games organizers carried away dreaming of a GC olympics, let’s see what the damage is after this Comm Games. The financial winners of these Games so far have only been the big egos on the top. Let me see if I’ve got this right. You ban cars from all precincts, you introduce massive park and rides, you close bridges and roads and you scare the local population to the extent that they leave town and then you brag about how many trips there were on bus and rai during the Games. Channel 7’s decision to only show Aussie medal winners is typical of their low quality reporting. Apologies to all the other great medal winners Shame.

I can’t, and don’t suffer fools! But I’m realising we are surrounded by them when I read Chatroom daily. Why would any sane individual be chanting for the Olympic Games to be held in Qld. in 2032? We have just experienced enough hardship in business alone, to last a lifetime. It will take months, for restaurants especially, to regain survival. So glad the Games “we had to have” are behind us.

To the person who feels that motorists have to stop for pedestrians on a crossing. You are right. But do you realise the law states that a pedestrian on approaching a marked crossing is to stop, look left, look right, look left again, and then if the road is clear and it is safe to cross then do so.
