Boost for Roar, Holman

-

KEY playmaker Brett Holman remains in the hunt for selection in Brisbane Roar’s ALeague elimination final against Melbourne City after better than expected news on his injured knee.

Roar coach John Aloisi feared the worst after Holman was forced off in the first half of the 3-2 weekend away win over Perth Glory.

The former Socceroos star hyper-extended his knee and his season seemed over.

However, scan results yesterday showed no structural damage in Holman’s knee.

If the 34-year-old emerges unscathed from training on Thursday, he will be included in the squad for Friday night’s do-or-die clash at AAMI Park.

“The injury’s not as serious as we first thought, which is good news,” Aloisi said.

“We’ll give Brett every chance to be involved.

“If he’s not right, he won’t play, but hopefully he will then be right for the week after if our season is still alive.”

If Holman is passed fit, Aloisi has a selection headache after the superb form of sub Henrique against the Glory.
