Accused, 73, awaits trial for time at boys home

A 73-YEAR-OLD northern Gold Coast man accused of historical sexual offences in a Sydney boys home will remain on the Gold Coast until his court appearance next month.

Christian Beullens was granted bail on the Southport Magistrate­s Court yesterday afternoon.

He has not entered a plea to six charges, including indecent treatment and buggery.

NSW police from Strike Force Eckersley arrested the man on the Gold Coast yesterday before his appearance in court.

Police did not oppose bail if Beullens was placed on the condition he have no unsupervis­ed contact with children.

Magistrate Mark Howden granted bail on the condition he remain at his Gold Coast address and have no unsupervis­ed contact with minors.

The charges are understood to relate to the man’s time at the Daruk Training School at Berkshire Park, bear Windsor, between 1965 and 1985.

Beullens will appear in Penrith Local Court on May 23.
