Chris’s sea of thriller action
FORMER councillor Chris Robbins is up to her ears in intrigue – but nowadays it’s in the realm of fiction, with her first novel already online, in print and about to be officially launched tonight.
The book, Drowning In A Sea of Duplicity, is about a sleepy town with undercurrents of suspicion and dodgy dealings.
The body of a lifesaver washes ashore, and that leads to rumours and developments that stun the locals.
As an area councillor for three terms until 2016, Robbins often found herself in fierce debate, including controversial quarry and mosque development proposals in her division.
She has used her experience of processes and issues to write what she insists is a purely fictional yarn.
“The book is tongue in cheek,’’ she said yesterday.
But matters she said were eroding people’s faith in federal, state and local government were themes in the story.
The book will be launched at 6.30pm at Surf World in Tomewin St, Currumbin.
