The Gold Coast Bulletin

Tower role in question

-

THE Gold Coast Waterways Authority is seeking public feedback on the future of the Malcolm Taylor Tower, also known as the Seaway Tower, at The Spit.

The Seaway Tower is owned by Gold Coast Waterways Authority and has been operated by the Southport Volunteer Marine Rescue and Coast Guard since it opened in 1987.

Funds are needed to upgrade the facility and new technology has forced the Waterways Authority to question its role in public safety.

Members of the community can complete the survey at gcwa.qld.gov.au/have-yoursay-on-the-future-of-monitoring-for-the-gold-coastseaway. The survey is open until April 20.
