6 QUEENSLANDERS TO KEEP AN EYE ON

- WITH KYLE POLLARD

1 JACK BOWES

THE Surfers Paradise and Cairns product is starting to find his feet in the AFL after being drafted with pick No.10 in 2016. His 20 touches against North Melbourne in Townsville were impressive, but a suspension staggered his promising start. Will be looking to have a big impact in his third QClash.

2 JESSE JOYCE

THE third-year defender from Palm Beach-Currumbin has steadily built into the season, improving with each week as he looks to cement himself as a leader of the backline. Has quietly notched 32 games since joining the Suns and will provide some problems for an under-fire Lions forward line.

3 LACHIE WELLER

THERE’S plenty of hype around Weller at the Suns after the midfielder declared he wanted to leave Fremantle and return to the Gold Coast. One of the few solid performers from the two- week trip to Perth, Weller’s grunt work in the middle will be tested on Sunday against Brisbane’s veteran stars.

4 DAYNE ZORKO

REJECTED by the Suns when they had dibs on the Surfers Paradise midfielder, Zorko always has plenty to prove when the QClash comes around. Has had a slow start to the season by his lofty standards, with 14, 20, 19 and 17 disposal games respectfully, but should bounce back soon.

5 CHARLIE CAMERON

LIKE Weller, Cameron came home to Queensland after a stint at Adelaide and has made an immediate impact. Adds class to the Lions forward line as he plays a key target role despite his smaller stature. Bagged three goals in each of his first three games before last week’s disaster. Dangerous.

6 ERIC HIPWOOD

IN his third year, the Caloundraraised tall forward has had a slower start to the season than Lions fans would have hoped, but still shows promise with his athleticism and speed. Has five goals this season after his 30 majors last year and will be hunting the ball after a poor showing last week.
