Rob Borbridge says the debacle of the closing ceremony where our great athletes missed out, will pale into insignificance over time! You must be kidding.

We paid 33 million for opening and closing ceremonies, can we please get a refund! It should have never been given to an American company, what, we couldn’t do any better here! Sue, Currumbin

Q. Did Peter Beatie and HRH Prince Philip both attend the same “foot in mouth” school?

Hey Pete, don’t forget to bring the winning side in the NRL final on the stage to present the trophy. Give me your number and I will text you at full time. Drastic Dave

The long and boring presentation on Birmingham 2022 at the Commonwealth Games closing ceremony seems to indicate they are going the same way as our D grade concert on Sunday night – lots of rappers and rainbow people making social statements, but little about their city and what it has to offer the ordinary visitor. Lucky

Hey D Knowles - We haven't finished paying for the Games yet. Just wait a while and see what happens to recoup more money! Remember your rates just went up – I wonder if that's a sneaky grab to pay.

Learning to interpret graffiti being taught in Qld Schools ... We spend billions of dollars on education and this is the best our educators can come up with. Don

Religious conflict has caused more death and destruction on this planet than anything else. While I respect everyone’s right to be religious (whatever that may be), Folau'’ vocal beliefs in this day and age are typical of what causes conflict. Israel, support your faith but keep your homophobic comments private! A. Thiest

Todd Greenberg and the NRL should sack Beattie immediately to prevent the Grand Final from turning into Romper room revisited. The Colonel

Regards pedestrian crossings, yes it is polite and courteous to acknowledge the motorist, pity little do, I know I’m respectful for the motorists’ patience. Perko

Can some people come shopping at the Oasis Shopping Centre, because every shop on the first floor doesn’t seem to see any shoppers. Phil

Imagine the reaction in the NRL when the new boss demands that the winning grand final team sits quietly after the

match to listen to a string of boring speeches instead of doing the traditional victory lap.

Wow. Does everyone forget every intersection is a pedestrian crossing, marked or not. Cars give way to people, that is the law. Not just common sense and courtesy.

What happened to the mid day movies. We have to put up with rubbish repeats of MKR and The Voice. I envy people who can afford pay tv. Bob, Labrador

I’m not surprised the Greens want to legalise cannabis. They have a lot of dopes in their party. Sampancho

Comm Games - gold medals everywhere, no medals for organising. Hopeless rostering and useless public transport!

So an expert tells us that MKR out-rated the Games closing ceremony. What a surprise considering we couldn’t watch the closing ceremony because MKR was on. Surely if a network commits to televising an event, then it should meet that commitment. I hope when rights to future games come up, channel 7’s lack of commitment is taken into consideration. Graz

UN – the biggest mobile cocktail party, weak and toothless. No wonder Russia is laughing at this useless organisation!

Wednesday and the M1 is a parking lot as usual! Coomera and Upper Coomera merge is a joke! Parents have children use buses to school, this will help congestion. Charlie

I have got to say it. Why do some women fill their faces with Botox? They would be very pretty without the poison they use.

So embarrassed to keep reading that there was no top talent at the closing ceremony. Anthony, Kate, Dami, Emma, and all the others, you did a fantastic show, and you didn’t even want to be paid. Kudos to you all. You really are our top talent. - Shezz

Maybe we should look at introducing a system where we elect people who are accountable and look after our interests instead of a bunch of lawyers who outsource their responsibilities to contractors at great expense and claim their hands are clean. The system that works for the people is called a democracy and the one that works for these lawyers is either a kleptocracy, a mediocracy or both.

Having spoken to at least 20 visitors from England, New Zealand, Canada, Malaysia and South Africa, ALL agreed that the GCCG 2018 was fantastic. Brian O.
