HELLO OLD FRIEND

■ The Mustang is not new to the Australian motor racing scene. Norm Beechey (one) and Ian Geoghegan (four) won five touring car championships in the late 1960s in a Mustang.

■ Queensland great Dick Johnson drove a Mustang to fourth place in the 1986 Bathurst 1000. ■ As with Holden’s release of the ZB this year, the Mustang could lift Ford up the pecking order. With basically the same V8 engine in play, gains will likely come through aerodynamics.
