As someone who doesn’t give two hoots about the Black Swan Lake/borrow pit saga, I was quite perturbed to overhear 3 ‘ladies’ having coffee, with one saying she’s signed the petition “5” separate times with different names! Skulduggery at its best/worse!

Will the guilty bankers be banned for two years and have to enter into a repayment plan before they are allowed to play again? rocket

Where do I sign up to join a class-action suit against directors of AMP for loss of money on shares because of their dodgy deals? Peter, Pacific Pines

How about we start some serious jail time for these tough guy coward low-lifes who think dog fights are a form of entertainment, I know who the dogs are. Woodleigh

The council paid experts from England to show us how to empty our roads. GOLDOC paid experts from America to put on a substandard festival. Even Surfside paid Americans to answer questions on where to catch a local bus. Maybe next time let’s talk to locals first? John

Harry. Everyone’s beliefs are just simply that. Stop attacking people because their beliefs are Biblical-based when the beliefs of others are too often based on the bizarre. Think about what your beliefs are based on, before criticising others. Graz

Regarding snake in Thursday’s Is there no zoo or sanctuary willing and able to take the poor American corn snake? I understand there would need to be precautions to keep our wildlife safe. Could not this docile snake be quarantined to make sure he is disease free and housed on his own? I hate the thought of this innocent creature being euthanased. Faye Ball, Mudgeeraba

Why are people still walking around with Games outfits on a week after the Games?

The buses were from Victoria, the cranes building the village were mainly from Victoria and the opening & closing ceremonies arranged by an American company – why did GOLDOC not use Queensland companies? We need an inquiry, Queensland deserves answers – this can’t be brushed under the carpet. Ray

Never seen so many gambling adds on TV now they have been banned. Must have been a Clayton’s ban. Redneck

Wow those US Democrats have turned to pure McCarthyism with their practice

of making accusations of subversion or treason without proper regard for evidence. Now for the show trials to destroy what little credibility American politics has left.

OK, had enough of hearing about the Games. Next subject please. Old chook.

A fine for not washing properly before you go in a public pool??? Well ... that stuffs up every school that does swimming as a sport!!! We get them changed and off we go ... we are not allowed to shower kids !!!!!

Council fines up $7 million in Saturday’s paper ... parking infringement notices up the most .... not hard to believe when council place ridiculous limits in suburban streets only to impact the locals from parking out the front of their own property. The Duke.

Ah what a relief, the Games are over and no more faces on TV of Peter Beattie and less of Annastacia, sick of Labor’s lies and false promises. RhondaW.

The salaries and bonuses being paid to the Games bosses are totally obscene, they must be laughing all the way to the bank. Except for the sporting events themselves, the games were a total stuff-up and made this place look like hicksville by the sea.

I could see a lot of advantages for the local community should the lights remain at the site of the beach volleyball stadium in Coolangatta. Perko

Re: renting vs owning – you're forgetting that many renters can’t get a loan. Also the cost of ownership far exceeds just the price of the mortgage. GC rates are the highest in the country. Marco Polo

More BS from Scott Morrison. He has been on the wrong side of the Royal Commission into banks on every issue but now attempts to bignote himself with massive increases in fines and jail time for evil doers. Unfortunately, unless ScoMo backdates the new penalties, anyone charged will be dealt with under old penalties. GT

I can’t for the life of me comprehend the mentality of the objectors of the new hospital sight. To put 23 acres of land for sweet potatoes over a much-needed hospital is ludicrous. The benefits far outweigh growing potatoes.

Retention bonuses due to GOLDOC executives should be directed to the sporting associations represented at the Games. The athletes made the games a success. Full stop.

Do I have to take a photo of myself in the shower before I go to the council’s public pool, as I put my bathing suit on after the shower. What next? SAS
